Job Brief:
  • Draft and research press releases as may be required; identify and leverage newsworthy opportunities for positive media coverage on the brand – editorial or pictorial
  • Innovate with ideas regularly by identifying various PR angles to obtain maximum mileage out of an event / programme /news coverage.
  • Ensure updated records of all material on the brand ranging from media lists to contacts of principals to backgrounder on the brand.
  • Maintain a sufficient stock of branded collateral, either through local production or ordering from the brand, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines
  • Ensure timely information update on respective portfolio of brands on the Group website, and regular uploads on Intranet and internal archiving.
  • Act as a common interface for the media, principals and suppliers in communicating the brand image as per the communication standards and marketing plans.
  • When outsourcing an activity like press kit collation, ensure receipt of services as per agreed timeline/quality.
  • Negotiate photo shoot opportunities for the brand in relevant titles, being present for major shoots.
  • Act as main point of contact for price, image and information requests by the media , liaising with the stores and buying team to ensure accurate information is supplied
  • Propose media to approach for spokesperson interview opportunities and negotiate to secure optimum exposure for the brand
  • Plan the despatch schedule for respective portfolio, and execute as per planned timelines.
  • Assist line manager in organising and attending media briefing/press conference; special events related to the brand or industry; maintain goodwill with service providers; positive working relationships with the media.
  • Assist line manager in execution of media events.
  • Assist line manager with preparation of reports, as per agreed timelines for each brand This is relevant to assess the quality and effectiveness of PR efforts for the respective brands.
  • Ensure that billing on the brand is always up to date and accurate. Suppliers/ any party engaged with for services or goods, having complied with the company process of estimates being received in a timely fashion, followed by LPO generation ( as relevant) and invoicing.
Person Specification:
  • Graduate in Journalism and/ or  Mass Communication
  • Knowledge of written and spoken English and Arabic essential
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Good writing skills
  • 2-3 years relevant experience
